We created Futurekind as a vehicle to empower and amplify the work of changemakers, so that we might take our years of experience working with large brands and apply it to programs and projects that will change the world for good. We believe that business can be a force for good, with the power to deliver tangible improvement to human life and the environment.
As a Certified B Corp digital agency, how do you now perceive your role in the industry as a change-maker?
We became a Certified B Corporation because Futurekind exists to grow and magnify brands and businesses as a force for the good of people and planet.
We're a Creative Communications, Strategy & Media Agency, and see our role as working with high growth disruptors, purpose driven brands, and ambitious, mid-large game-changer businesses. We're about fearless creative, razor-sharp acumen & business savvy - delivering smart, cut-through branding & campaigns, integrated commercialisation and communications, as well as first class production and media planning and buying.
We formed with the vision of co-creating a world where local, sustainable and purpose-driven businesses thrive. We hope that by giving good initiatives access to the best in corporate marketing strategy, we will transform consumer behaviour and our society for good. Our role in the industry is to change the world for the better by delivering impact and accelerating growth for businesses with purpose.
What advice do you have for other digital agencies who are considering undergoing certification?
Our advice to new and emerging agencies with purpose is to focus your services on the things your most passionate about doing - and help others by infusing that energy and experience into the things your clients most need help with.
Tell us more about TODAY app. How do you see the use of such digital technology helping shape and guide the impact we have on the world around us?
Ever felt helpless in the face of big problems challenging our society? Climate change, environmental degradation, plastic pollution... Keen to make a positive contribution to the health of our home, but not sure where to start? I felt the same way and set on a path to help myself and others take action, one day at a time. I didn’t feel like I was doing ‘enough’ to show up and use my position of privilege in the world. I wanted to focus on what was important and live with more purpose, but didn’t know how to... and that's how I threw myself into a new project to create the TODAY app.
The TODAY App is a sustainable living app that gives people one small challenge that they can make each day. It gives people feedback on the positive impact they're having. It prompts little habit hacks and changes we can easily make - like going meat free for a day or grabbing a reusable coffee cup. The idea is to bring our biggest challenges into a framework and tool that feels personal, relevant and easy to share and talk about.
What are the top 3 things people would get out of using the app?
1. Personal motivation – consider it a buddy that helps motivate you.
2. Connection with friends who also want to make a positive impact, since you can log into the app through Facebook.
3. Access to products and services that can help to support more sustainable living in the long term.
Why will a digital technology deliver positive changes in people’s behaviour?
Its helps to take the big issues and make them simple for people. We live with one of the most powerful pieces of technology in our pockets, 24hrs a day; our smart phones. We recognise the need to make change towards sustainable alternatives, and there's no doubt that we'll need technology to help us along the way to make it easy, fun, and smart and social. My hope for TODAY is to become a powerful tool for us to reconnect and focus on the things that matter to us most. We have so much opportunity to turn the tables on grand-scale problems and the value we give to the environment (not to mention our cultures and the importance of our personal wellbeing).

What are your own lived experiences of the values in your work and your everyday?
I've found that balance in the life of purpose and driving business growth is a challenge, and I'm lucky in the sense of having chosen to align my professional life in sync with my personal values. It's much easier to find the people in your tribe and to make 'hard' decisions when the right thing to do is clear to you every time.
