  • Joyce Sou, Manager of B Corporations and Social Impact at the MaRS Centre for Impact Investing

    Joyce's previous life includes eight years at KPMG as a Manager of Assurance Services in the Consumer Markets Group. In her role, she focused on leading audits of manufacturing and retail clients throughout North America and participated as a recruiting manager for campus talent attraction. She also spent time in South America as a volunteer advisor to a local entrepreneur in Chile through the Endeavor Global program. Joyce is a partner at Social Venture Partners Toronto (SVPT) and serves on the Investment Committee as well as on the Advisory Team to selected investees. She holds a BComm from Queens University and is a Chartered Accountant (CA). Joyce is an avid traveler and recently spent her first year of marriage on sabbatical with her husband, visiting over 15 countries around the world.

  • Maria Emilia Correa, Co-Founder, Sistema B

    Chair of the Board of Casa de la Paz, Partner in Xicheng, Assistent to the President, GrupoNueva / Masisa, Chair of the Board in TERRIUM, and visiting professor at the University of the Andes, Bogota, Universidad Adolfo Ibanez, Santiago, and ESADE, Buenos Aires. Her research has been published in the Harvard Business Review, UN ECLAC, and IDB. She was the Director of Sustainability for Natura Cosmetics in Sao Paulo in 2008 and Vice President of Social and Environmental Responsibility for GrupoNueva / Masisa for 10 years. She began her career working in the conservation of biological resources Natura Foundation / The Nature Conservancy in Colombia, promoting sustainability in business in Latin America.

  • Pedro Tarak, Co-Founder, Sistema B

    Pedro received a Law Degree from the National University of Buenos Aires, and LL.M in Politics and International and Comparative Environmental Law from the University of Indiana. He was the Executive Director of the Environment and Natural Resources Foundation in Argentina and has helped developed public participation mechanisms and environmental legislation in the region. He has also been an international consultant of the OAS, UNDP, World Bank, IFC, and other national and international environmental policy and legislation for governments, companies, and civil society organizations.

    Pedro was the first representative of Avina in Latin America, starting its activities from Argentina in 1997 and promoting performances in other Latin American countries. In 2006, he was the Representative of International Bridges where Avina drove continental strategies in Latin America and cooperation with global organizations in Europe. He is currently a board member of International Guayaki, Co-Founder and Chief Strategic Emprendia, Counsellor American Climate Platform, Director of Foundacion Futuro Latinoamericano, Environment & Natural Resources, Nuevos Aires, and Co-Founder of Sistema B.

  • Gonzalo Munoz, Co-Founder, Sistema B

    Gonzalo is the General Coordinator of the Aconcagua Summit 2001 - International Meeting for the Humanization of Globalization. He is also the Co-Founder of Triciclos, the first Certified B Corporation in South America and winner of the Avonni Innovation Awards. Triciclos is a company whose mission is to promote sustainability habits of citizens and organizations. He was also the Co-Founder and board member of Comon-a, a distributor of food service focused on small restaurants and hotels.

    Gonzalo was also the Co-Founder and board member of St. Paul Fruit, an exporter of sustainable-certified high standards, and Co-Founder and board member of Vine Polkura premium wine grapes. After working in the food industry for several years, Gonzalo was the Executive Director of Juan Bas Foods, the largest company in Chile in the production of pickles, chili sauce, vinegars, and other preserves. He departed from the corporate life to create Triciclos and become a social entrepreneur.

  • Juan Pabo Larenas, Co-Founder & Regional Director, Sistema B

    Juan Pablo is the Co-Founder of Sistema B, Commercial Engineer, and alumnus of the University of Chile. He is a researcher, teacher, activist, and passionate advocate of Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation in Chile and Latin America. He also co-founded Late!, a social enterprise that sells purified water and donates 100% of its profits to NGOs. He is a member of the board of Responsible Citizen Foundation, an organization that researches, builds, and promotes ethical consumption. Juan Pablo is the former Executive Director of The Peace House Foundation and former director of A Roof For My Country in 10 Latin American countries.

  • Claudia Martinez, Co-Founder, Sistema B

    Claudia Martinez is the Executive Director of E3-Ecology, Economics and Ethics. She has over 25 years of practical experience in environmental management. She was previously Vice President of Social and Environmental Development and Director of the Office of Sustainable Development of the CAF, Deputy Minister of Environment of Colombia, Environmental Officer for Latin American Bureau Program and the United Nations Development Programme in New York.

    Claudia studied Business Administration at the University of Los Andes in Colombia and received a Masters in Environmental Studies and Economic Development from Yale University. She serves on the boards of directors of the Center for International Forestry, Tropenbos International, Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education, and the Environmental Council of Leadership of Yale. She has participated in various groups for changing environmental perceptions including the Rio Conference, the Millennium Development goals of the United Nations, and national environmental policies.

  • Virginia Pittaro, Argentina Executive Director, Sistema B

    With the conviction that the only possible development should be inclusive, sustainable, Virginia is committed to promoting business models that contribute to democratizing access to opportunities for individuals and communities to realize their potential. She started down this path in 2006, when she joined the team of Endeavor Argentina, and NGO whose mission is to contribute to the development of emerging economies by selecting and supporting high-impact entrepreneurs. There she served as Head of Institutional Development and Special Projects and led corporate social responsibility programs for entrepreneurs.

    Virginia worked in Inclusive Markets Initiative United Nations Program for Development in New York. Before joining Sistema B, Virginia was an Endeavor Argentina Consultant for leading a project to enhance the impact of the organization inside the country. She holds a BA Magna Cum Laude in International Relations from the University of San Andres, earned a Masters in Public Policy and International Development from the University of Maryland, and a Fulbright Scholarship.

  • Marcel Fukayama, Brazil Co-Executive Director, Sistema B

    Marcel is currently the CEO of CDI Ventures, a social enterprise that uses technology to empower communities through social enterprises. He is also the Co-Founder of the CDI Lan, the first CDI social entrepreneurship with the mission of providing access to innovative solutions to transform the lives of low-income communities through a network of 6,500 internet cafes affiliated with the strategic focus of education and financial inclusion. In 2009 he joined CDI as coordinator of innovative projects with Coca-Cola, Casas Bahia, and SEBRAE. He has been involved with cyber cafes since 2001 when at age 17 he started his own business. He worked for two years as Country Manager of iGames, a North American marketing for gaming organization. Marcel received a Masters of Business Administration from ESPM and extension in Global Marketing Management from the University of California.

  • Laura Velez, Colombia Executive Director, Sistema B

    Laura joined Sistema B as the Executive Director for Colombia in 2014. She holds an Economics and International and Global Studies degree from Brandeis University, where she was a Wien Scholar. Before Sistema B, she was the Search&Selection Manager at Endeavor Chile for two years. In that role, she led entrepreneurs through the selection process, identifying companies' strategic challenges and preparing them for International Selection Panels where those with the highest impact potential became Endeavor Entrepreneurs. Laura first learned about B Corps as a Research Associate at Harvard Business School where she worked with Professors Christopher Marquis and Felix Oberholzer-Gee on social entrepreneurship and non-market strategy research.

  • Marcello Palazzi, Co-Founder, B Lab Europe

    Marcello is a philanthropreneur, Co-Founder and President of Progressio Foundation, working globally from the Netherlands. With over 300 innovative ventures in 30 countries, projects and events across the 4 P's: public, private, philanthropy, and people, Marcello authored "Towards the Civic Economy" 25 years ago, which presciently mapped out many of the ecosystem innovations that have occurred, from CSR to micro-finance, partnerships, sustainability, etc.

    In parallel to his work, he has run and expanded part of a family business in environmental diagnostics from the UK, started an impact investment fund, and has been instrumental in launching several ventures at the junction of entrepreneurship, innovation, and the public good. He intends to build on this passion further through B Lab Europe. Marcello is also a board member of several public good enterprises across Europe and North America. Marcello has studied economics, foreign policy, business administration and leadership at LSE, LBS, Erasmus, MIT and Harvard.

  • Leen Zevenbergen, Co-Founder, B Lab Europe

    Leen's passion lies in creating new companies, building companies out of nothing. He has done that around 20 times over the past 30 years, starting when he was 24 with his first company in Artificial Intelligence. Besides that he coaches and investes in starting entrepreneurs and midsize companies moving forward in a sustainable fashion. So, sustainability has always been his key word. And by sustainability he means "long-term orientation".

    In between being the serial entrepreneur Leen ran 3 large multi-national companies, like Pink Roccade, Origin and Qurius. All these companies were corporates, which means that he knows and have seen both the corporate world as well as the entrepreneurial. Leen successfully wrote three management books, of which one became Managementbook of the Year 2007. His books are translated in many languages and sold over 100.000 copies. His last is is named "Sustainability@the Speed of Passion!

  • Mele-Ane Havea, Chair of the Board, B Lab Australia & New Zealand

    Mele-Ane Havea works with impact investment organisation Small Giants and is currently managing one of their investee companies, independent media company Dumbo Feather. Small Giants supports, grows and invests in businesses that are creating a positive social and environmental impacts and financial returns. Mele-Ane has worked in corporate, community and human rights law, working in Melbourne, Abu Dhabi, Kununurra and Utrecht, respectively. In 2011, she completed an MBA at the Said Business School at Oxford University where she was a fellow at the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship.

  • Alicia Darvall, Executive Director, B Lab Australia & New Zealand

    Alicia is thrilled to be joining the founding Australian B Corps to develop the B Corporation movement in Australia and New Zealand. Alicia has over fifteen years of community building experience in the private and public sectors. She spent three years working in the United States and has 15 years experience of operating in the Australian market. She has worked with a range of businesses including as the Event Director of Moonlight Cinema, CEO of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, at the Melbourne Fashion Festival and St Kilda Film Festival. Her past roles have involved working with Gordon Ramsay Holdings, Village Roadshow, World Nomads, Australians in Film, National Gallery of Victoria, Right Angle Studio and Social Traders. Alicia holds a Masters of Arts & Entertainment Management from Deakin University and a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Environmental Policy from RMIT University in Melbourne.

  • Danny Almagor, Non-Executive Director, B Lab Australia & New Zealand

    Danny is the co-founder and CEO of Small Giants, which he started with Berry, who also happens to be the mother of his three children, the creative director of Small Giants and “the most awesome person in the world” (Danny’s words). Prior to Small Giants, Danny was the founding CEO of Engineers Without Borders Australia and the CEO of Medivax. He has done some other cool stuff including being part of the team that broke the record for racing a solar car across Australia from Darwin to Adelaide. He loves reading non fiction and jumping on the trampoline with his kids.

  • Monica Bradley, Non-Executive Director, B Lab Australia & New Zealand

    Monica has a remarkable innovation mindset. As a Non-Executive Director and adviser, she helps design strategies that deliver growth. Her portfolio of directorships and advisory roles include corporate, government, social enterprises and start-ups. Monica is an engaging talent with exceptional strategy and global advisory experience. She returned to Brisbane in 2012 after an impressive career in US and Middle East. Monica is a sought-after NED, adviser, mentor and investor, who uses innovation to grow and adapt ventures to create globally competitive organisations.

  • John Elliot, Non-Executive Director, B Lab Australia & New Zealand

    John is the general manager of TOMS shoes in Australia. A one-for-one business, John has grown the business extensively. TOMS' business model has been referred to as the "one for one concept" business model, referring to the company's promise to deliver a pair of free, new shoes to a child in need for every sale of their retail product. In February 2010, FastCompany named TOMS #6 on their list of Top Ten Most Innovative Retail Companies. Previously John worked for AND1 and through this, maintains close connections to the U.S. founders of B Lab, Bart Houlahan and Jay Coen Gilbert.

  • Alex Hannant, Non-Executive Director, B Lab Australia & New Zealand

    Alex Hannant is Chief Executive at the Ākina Foundation - an independent charity focused on the support and development of social enterprise. Ākina provides a range of services from early-stage capability building through to investment readiness and capital raising, and also plays a leading role in the development of New Zealand’s social enterprise and investment sector. Previously, based in the UK, Alex was Director of Programmes at LEAD - a global network focused on leadership and sustainable development, and also Head of Partnerships at the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) – a global initiative providing technical advice and services on climate change and development to decision makers in developing countries. In his current role at Ākina , Alex aims to contribute to a sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive New Zealand, and is ultimately driven by doing things better and fairer.

  • Terence Jeyaretnam, Non-Executive Director, B Lab Australia & New Zealand

    Terence is a Partner with EY’s Climate Change and Sustainability team based in Melbourne. He was the Executive Director and Founder of Net Balance until its acquisition by EY in 2014. Net Balance (and Net Balance Foundation) was regarded as Australia's largest standalone sustainability and climate change practice, twice rated along the way by BRW as one of the fastest 100 growth companies in Australia. Terence is an environmental and sustainability advisory and assurance specialist with over twenty years’ experience in advising governments and corporations on sustainability issues. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Southern Queensland’s Australian Centre for Sustainable Business and Development. Terence holds a degree in Environmental Engineering (UWA), is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia.

  • Greg Ridder, Non-Executive Director, B Lab Australia & New Zealand

    Greg Ridder is a non-executive director, strategy consultant and business mentor. Formerly Asia Pacific Regional President at NYSE listed Owens-Illinois, he is a past President of the Packaging Council of Australia and been a member of the Business Council of Australia. With a portfolio of interests at board level and in strategic advice, Greg is increasingly engaged with the not-for-profit sector having held interim leadership positions in mental health, architecture and with an NGO aid and development organisation. In addition to B Lab Australia & NZ, Greg serves on the boards of Tibaldi Smallgoods, Phoenix Australia and Oxfam Australia. Greg holds an Accounting degree and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing as well as having completed the Advanced Management Programme at France’s INSEAD. He is a CPA and graduated member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

    Skye founded Mkt. Communications in 2006 with a vision to create an agency underpinned by her guiding business principles - respect, collaboration, creativity and service. Skye is a highly accomplished marketing professional with broad experience gained in some of Melbourne’s most respected advertising and communications agencies. She is responsible for crafting and managing successful campaigns, delivering tangible results for many Australian and international brands. Skye has a unique approach to her work with an emphasis on strategy and creative ideas that deliver to a client’s broader business agenda. Intrinsically passionate about people and the planet, Mkt. Communications has grown and so has its relationships with like-minded organisations.     Carly is the Director of Engagement & Communications at Impact Investing Australia. She is passionate about building business as force for good and harnessing the power of individuals to effect change, whether as a consumer, advocate or investor. Carly has extensive experience delivering innovative initiatives and partnerships spanning the private, public and not for profit sectors in Australia, South East Asia and East Africa. At Oxfam Australia, Carly designed award-winning campaigns to achieve fairer international trade rules, generating consumer demand for fair trade products, and advocating for Australian mining companies operating abroad to adhere to global human rights standards. For the Australian Conservation Foundation, Carly led communications and partnership development to promote the transition to an economy that delivers wellbeing alongside a healthy environment.
