B Lab Australia and New Zealand is the not-for-profit which supports the community of B Corps in Australia and New Zealand. By encouraging them to join and contribute to this global movement, and link the Australian and New Zealand B Corps with the other B Corps around the world as we all, together, use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.

Mele-Ane Havea, Chair of the Board, B Lab Australia & New Zealand
Mele-Ane Havea works with impact investment organisation Small Giants and is currently managing one of their investee companies, independent media company Dumbo Feather. Small Giants supports, grows and invests in businesses that are creating a positive social and environmental impacts and financial returns. Mele-Ane has worked in corporate, community and human rights law, working in Melbourne, Abu Dhabi, Kununurra and Utrecht, respectively. In 2011, she completed an MBA at the Said Business School at Oxford University where she was a fellow at the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship.
John Elliot, Non-Executive Director
John is the general manager of TOMS shoes in Australia. A one-for-one business, John has grown the business extensively. TOMS' business model has been referred to as the "one for one concept" business model, referring to the company's promise to deliver a pair of free, new shoes to a child in need for every sale of their retail product. In February 2010, FastCompany named TOMS #6 on their list of Top Ten Most Innovative Retail Companies. Previously John worked for AND1 and through this maintains close connections to the U.S. founders of B Lab, Bart Houlahan and Jay Coen Gilbert.
Greg Ridder, Non-Executive Director
Greg Ridder is a non-executive director, strategy consultant and business mentor. Formerly Asia Pacific Regional President at NYSE listed Owens-Illinois, he is a past President of the Packaging Council of Australia and been a member of the Business Council of Australia. With a portfolio of interests at board level and in strategic advice, Greg is increasingly engaged with the not-for-profit sector having held interim leadership positions in mental health, architecture and with an NGO aid and development organisation. In addition to B Lab Australia & NZ, Greg serves on the boards of Tibaldi Smallgoods, Phoenix Australia and Oxfam Australia. Greg holds an Accounting degree and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing as well as having completed the Advanced Management Programme at France’s INSEAD. He is a CPA and graduated member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Monica Bradley, Non-Executive Director
Monica has a remarkable innovation mindset. As a Non-Executive Director and adviser, she helps design strategies that deliver growth. Her portfolio of directorships and advisory roles include corporate, government, social enterprises and start-ups. Monica is an engaging talent with exceptional strategy and global advisory experience. She returned to Brisbane in 2012 after an impressive career in US and Middle East. Monica is a sought-after NED, adviser, mentor and investor, who uses innovation to grow and adapt ventures to create globally competitive organisations.
Skye Tipler, Non-Executive Director
Skye founded Mkt. Communications in 2006 with a vision to create an agency underpinned by her guiding business principles - respect, collaboration, creativity and service. Skye is a highly accomplished marketing professional with broad experience gained in some of Melbourne’s most respected advertising and communications agencies. She is responsible for crafting and managing successful campaigns, delivering tangible results for many Australian and international brands. Skye has a unique approach to her work with an emphasis on strategy and creative ideas that deliver to a client’s broader business agenda. Intrinsically passionate about people and the planet, Mkt. Communications has grown and so has its relationships with like-minded organisations. A certified B Corporation, Mkt. works closely with a number of engaging brands with social missions, such as TOMS, Australian Organic, Foodbank Victoria, Lord of The Fries, and Cool Australia. Skye is a member of the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI), the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA), the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) and she is a Certified Practising Marketer.
Alex Hannant, Non-Executive Director
Alex Hannant is Chief Executive at the Ākina Foundation - an independent charity focused on the support and development of social enterprise. Ākina provides a range of services from early-stage capability building through to investment readiness and capital raising, and also plays a leading role in the development of New Zealand’s social enterprise and investment sector. Previously, based in the UK, Alex was Director of Programmes at LEAD - a global network focused on leadership and sustainable development, and also Head of Partnerships at the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) – a global initiative providing technical advice and services on climate change and development to decision makers in developing countries. In his current role at Ākina, Alex aims to contribute to a sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive New Zealand, and is ultimately driven by doing things better and fairer.
Alan Dayeh - Non-Executive Director
Alan is an Executive Manager with Westpac’s Group Sustainability team based in Sydney. His current career focus in corporate sustainability strategy, reporting and responsible investment practices is underpinned by 13 years’ experience in management consulting and institutional banking. He was also co-founder and longest serving team member of Net Balance’s Sydney practice, regarded as Australia’s largest standalone sustainability professional services practice until its acquisition by EY in 2014. Alan is a proficient practitioner in the range of sustainability-related frameworks from GRI and AA1000 used in sustainability reporting through to index based frameworks including the DJSI, CDP, and GRESB. He holds two degrees from the University of Technology, Sydney – the first in Business and second in Environmental Biology. Alan is passionate about driving value that links business strategies to the principles of sustainability. At home he loves spending time with the family, but can never seem to get enough time in the garden.
Carly Hammond - Company Secretary
Carly is the Director of Engagement & Communications at Impact Investing Australia. She is passionate about building business as force for good and harnessing the power of individuals to effect change, whether as a consumer, advocate or investor. Carly has extensive experience delivering innovative initiatives and partnerships spanning the private, public and not for profit sectors in Australia, South East Asia and East Africa. At Oxfam Australia, Carly designed award-winning campaigns to achieve fairer international trade rules, generating consumer demand for fair trade products, and advocating for Australian mining companies operating abroad to adhere to global human rights standards. For the Australian Conservation Foundation, Carly led communications and partnership development to promote the transition to an economy that delivers wellbeing alongside a healthy environment.

Alicia Darvall, Executive Director
Alicia has over 15 years’ experience in senior roles for fast-growing high-profile businesses and organisations. She has an established track record in successfully founding and managing business for the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. Alicia provides strategic support to entrepreneurs, assisting them to build on their values; engage with community and stakeholders and focus on measuring their impact. Alicia is currently Executive Director of B Lab Australia & New Zealand. In this role in she is building a community of purpose-driven businesses that are Certified B Corporation with higher standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. Alicia is a member of the B Lab Global Governance Council and Deputy Chair of the Stella Prize. She also sits on the Guardian Sustainable Business Advisory Council and is undertaking the 2016 Williamson Community Leadership Program. Alicia holds a Masters of Management, Deakin University and a Bachelors Social Science (Environmental Policy) from RMIT University.
Mindy Leow, Community Builder
Mindy is passionate about business as a catalyst for social change. Mindy's role at B Lab is to build a community of purpose-driven businesses by helping them to measure and improve their social and environmental impact. Mindy has rich experience in the Australian social enterprise sector with organisations like Social Traders, StartSomeGood and Writers Victoria. Mindy holds an MBA from Melbourne Business School, and Bachelor in Journalism from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Charlie Syme, Marketing and Community Manager
Charlie is the Marketing and Community Manager at B Lab, responsible for ensuring that our amazing community of B Corps feel connected, engaged and inspired by the movement we are creating. Charlie has a wide background in marketing, fundraising and communications, with a track record of designing and delivering high quality and high impact marketing campaigns that deliver results. Every day he is driven by the belief that everyone, from individuals to major corporations, can play a positive role in shaping our world for the better.
Rebecca Rozencwajg - Government Relations and Policy Advisor
Rebecca has held senior roles across corporate, government and not for profit sectors with an emphasis on stakeholder engagement, government relations and strategic business development. Rebecca’s role within B Lab is focussed on advocating for the introduction of the ‘benefit company’ legal form, which will provide businesses with a solid foundation for long term mission alignment and value creation. Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Post Graduate Diploma in Arts from The University of Melbourne. Rebecca thrives on working within culturally rich organisations where she is able to educate and influence others to affect positive change.
Gayertree Subramaniam - Community Coordinator
Gayertree is our Community Coordinator. She comes from a communications background steeped in the impact space, having previously worked at Impact Investing Australia. At B Lab Australia & NZ, Gayertree provides support ensuring that the community of our awe-inspiring B Corps are empowered to champion B Corp values within their networks and beyond. A passion for the power businesses have in transforming the well-being of the communities and the world that we live in guides her work. Gayertree holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Monash University.
Katie Shiff - Community Building Associate
Katie is our Community Building Associate. Having initially studied anthropology and cinema in the hopes of becoming a documentary filmmaker, Katie has had a rather diverse career. She spent time as a television editor, running global-scale retail operations at Aesop and coordinating corporate partnerships at Arts Centre Melbourne. When she discovered the social enterprise movement, she knew that her future career would be committed to shifting global consumer perspectives and promoting business as a force for good. Katie is currently undertaking an MBA with a specialisation in Social Impact at the University of New South Wales.
