twiice edible cups is now a Certified B Corporation

twiice edible cups, devised by four members of a committed foodie family, are proud to be part of the new way forward for the environmentally-friendly cup. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, twiice cups is a deliciously tasty, waste-free solution to the disposable takeaway cup. Made of vanilla biscuit, and shipped in 100 per cent compostable, cellulose alternative packaging, twiice cups have more taste with less waste. They’re designed to complement any hot beverage or dessert, with a mission to replace as many single-use cups as possible.

To celebrate their B Corp certification and waste-free impact, we sat down with the team to learn more about their edible cups.

Why did you want to certify as a B Corp?

Being part of a community of shared values is so important to us. We identified from the outset that the B Corp community was an amazing one to be involved in. We watched the community grow as we started working on making twiice a reality, and then we were able to work on becoming certified over the last year.

What makes your B Corp unique as a business?

We are quite unique as our category is fairly new. There are only a small handful of edible tableware companies around the world!

What we love about our product is that it’s a really fun and approachable way to navigate the massive single-use problem. It can be a divisive subject and most people acknowledge that drastic change is needed. The twiice cup is a unique value proposition that easily sparks fun conversation about real change.

B Corps want to help transform our economy into one that is inclusive, sustainable, and regenerative. What business practice do you want to see become the norm?

We would love to see more sustainable practices adopted in everyday life as there are many that are so achievable.

We have a passion for seeing single-use tableware a thing of the past and are stoked to be part of a growing number of people across the world looking to make a substantial difference to the planet!

Was there a B Corp that inspired you to certify, or one that you look to for inspiration?

We loved the thought of being part of the small but growing food and beverage B Corps in New Zealand. There are some amazing brands like Fix and Fogg that we definitely look to for inspiration!

Do you have any tips for aspiring B Corps about the certification process?

We loved going through the B Impact Assessment ourselves in our own time and seeing what our impact was. When we had done as much as we could, we worked with a consultant to mould our application and scale up our impact! Leaving enough time to think carefully about next steps would be our best piece of advice.
